So I've finally decided what to do with this topic, post "oops, I forgot to participate in the beta" initial entry.
It seems only fitting that since Andy and I used to work together as web app QA engineers, and I didn't really get around to doing any QA when he asked me to help beta test BlogText, that I should keep a running tab of any issues I encounter now that the site is live. I'll be submitting them issue tracker style into this thread in my blog as I encounter them. Here is the first issue I've noticed, which is just a minor presentational one. (Apparently someone was doing their job in beta.)
The home page formatting looks a little off without intro text for each entry, since this makes it repeat the full title of each entry within a couple of lines of each other.
Also another little suggestion: I'm not sure what the site's bandwidth consumption or allowances look like, but I think it would be really cool to give bloggers the option to attach lo-fi podcasts to their entries. I'm guessing that putting up a lot of streaming sound would kill the ruthless efficiency provided by the RSS feed, though.
So now I feel like less of a slacker and can go continue writing stupid GEOFKAEY-ESK COMEANTS on Jon's blog and making fun of CNN on my own. |
