I LOVE TO TELL THE STORY

"I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His Love:
I love to tell the story because I know ' tis true,
It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.

I love to tell the story!
Twill be my theme in glory-
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story;  more wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams.
I love to tell the story, it did so much for me;
And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.

I love to tell the story-'tis pleasant to repeat
What seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully
   sweet;
I love to tell the story, for some have ever heard
The message of salvation from God's own
  holy Word.

I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest;
And when in scenes of glory I sing the new,
   new song,
'Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.
(Words: Arabella K Hankey (1834-1911)
Music:  William G. Fischer  (1835-1913)

Reflection:

This beautiful, wonderful hymn brings back memories.
It reminds me of the old Swedish Mission Church that
I grew up in.  These were wonderful people, many of
whom were Swedish immigrants, who loved to worship
their God.  This hymn was sung at one function or another,
in our church every week.
Through the words the singer tells why he/she loves
to tell the story.  The story is the "Good News",
the Holy Scripture, The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Why does he/she love to tell this story, first "because
I know its true". Contrary to some opinions, this is
not a fiction, it's not just another history book. It is
the true story of God the Father's relationship with
His children.  It is the true account of God's love for
His children whom He gave, to them, His son.  Secondly
because "it satisfies my longings as nothing else can do".
This true story satisfies my every need, like nothing else.
Thirdly I love to tell this story because "some have never
heard the message of salvation from God's own Holy Word".
You see because I believe this story I have received eternal
salvation. And there are a lot of people who have not really
heard this story, and I know that I must tell them, because
I love to tell the story.  And finally I love to tell the story
because "those who know it best seem hungering and
thirsting to hear it like the rest". Even I know this story
I can't get enough, I hunger and thirst for the story of
Jesus love and glory.  Do you love to tell the story?

Prayer:

Thank you for the old, old, story God, help me to tell
it so all may know, all may believe. THANK YOU GOD
FOR BEING GOD!

Scripture:

"So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship making
us friends of God."  (Romans 5: 11)    NLT

Reflection:

You know all through the Holy Scriptures, it talks about us being
the children of God.   God is portrayed as our father, our creator
our king, our Savior.  But here Paul talks about God being our
friend.  Isn't that beautiful, my Father and Creator is my friend.
What a wonderful feeling to know that my heavenly Father is
my friend.  What does it mean to be a friend?  It means=
Love, Closeness, Dependable, Loyal, Kind, Understanding,
Compassionate, Counciler, Leader, and Sacrifice.  Think about
it, This is God, and much much more.  When I accepted Jesus
Christ into my life, I found a new friend, my best friend in God.
Do you want a friend in God all you have to do is BELIEVE!

Prayer:

Father God thank you for being my friend, because of my new
life in Christ, I now have a new friend, my best friend. THANK
GOD FOR BEING GOD AND BEING MY FRIEND

A very good friend emailed me this, I thought
you would enjoy reading this inspiring message:

What a difference a sad event in someone's life makes.

GEORGE CARLIN (His wife recently died...)

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up to o tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. W e plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that litt le person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don't send this to at least 8 people....Who cares?

George Carlin

Scripture:

"The unfailing love of the Lord never ends!
By His mercies we have been kept from
complete destruction.  Great is His
faithfulness;  His mercies begin afresh
each day. I say to myself, 'The Lord
is my inheritance;  therefore, I will hope
in Him!"  (Lamentations 3:22-24)  NASB

"Praise be to the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ!  In His great mercy He
has given us new birth into a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
from the dead."  (1 Peter 1:3)  NIV

Reflection:

Please remember these verses throughout 2008.
Remember that Gods love never ends.  He
is there for you and me always.  Each and
every day is special because our merciful
God is our inheritance.
My hope comes in my new birth in Jesus Christ
and His resurrection. God's Son died for you and
me.  This God, who through His Son, taught
me the real meaning of my life. He taught and gave
me true love, peace, compassion, understanding,
and what is meant to serve.  On top of all this,
He sacrificed His life so I can be free from the
bondage of sin, and I will live forever in Him. This
is how I begin the new year reaffirming my love
and faith in God.  You see this is my reality,
I believe in Jesus Christ.  Do You?

Let St. Francis Prayer be your Prayer for the Coming Year:

Prayer:

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred . . . let me sow love
Where there is injury . . . pardon
Where there is doubt . . . faith
Where there is despair . . . hope
Where there is darkness . . . light
Where there is sadness . . . joy
O, Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled . . . as to console
To be understood . . . as to understand,
To be loved . . . as to love
For it is in giving . . . that we receive,
It is in pardoning, that we are pardoned,
It is in dying . . . that we are born to eternal life.

In Jesus Name Amen

Loving Father,
Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be Thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen.

- Robert Louis Stevenson

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only

not perish but have everlasting life.
God sent not His Son into the world to condemn
the world BUT THAT THE WORLD THROUGH HIM
MIGHT BE SAVED."  (John 3:16,17)

What more can be said?

A Spirit filled Christmas to you and your family.

God Bless you and keep you

God grant you the light of Christmas, which is faith;
the warmth of Christmas, which is Love;

In infancy He startled a king; in boyhood He puzzled
the doctors; in manhood He walked upon the billows
and hushed the sea to sleep. He healed the multitudes
without medicine and made no charge for His services.
He never wrote a book, yet not all the libraries of the
world could hold the books that could be written about
Him. He never wrote a song, yet He has finished the
theme of more songs than all songs combined. He
never founded a college, yet all the schools together
cannot boast of as many students as He has. Great
men have come and gone, yet He lives on. Death
could not destroy Him, the grave could not hold Him.

The angel Gabriel said to Mary,
"Do not fear, Mary, you shall conceive
and bear a son and give him the name
Jesus. Great will be his dignity and
he will be called Son of the Most High...
" Lk. 1 Fourth Sunday of Advent

O Jesus, I believe you were born of
Mary and are God's Son.

Your mysterious coming is beyond
understanding. Yet like your holy
mother, Mary, I wish that you come
to me, for you promised you will. Let
me serve you in any way I can and
know that you are with me day by
day as my life goes by.

Like Mary, your mother, though I
know you only by faith, may my
whole being proclaim your greatness
and my spirit rejoice in your favor to me.

O Wisdom, holy Word of God,
Jesus Christ, holding all things
in your strong yet tender hands,
come and show us the way
to salvation.

You Better Be Ready Cause He's Comin

"The Lord isn't really being slow about His promise to return,
as some people think.  No, He is being patient for your sake.
He does not want anyone to perish, so He is giving more time
for everyone to repent.  But the day of the Lord will come as
unexpectedly as a thief.  Then the heavens will pass away with
a terrible noise, and everything in them will disappear in fire,
and the earth and everything on it will be exposed to
judgment.
Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy,
godly lives you should be living!  You should look forward to
that day and hurry it along--the day when God will set the
heavens on fire and the elements will melt away in the flames.
But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new
earth He promised, a world where everyone is right with
God.
And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these
things to happen, make every effort to live a pure and
blameless. life.  And be at peace with God.
And remember, the Lord is waiting so that people have
time to be saved. (2 Peter 3:9-15a) NLT

Reflection:

You know there has always been a lot of speculation
about the coming of Jesus Christ.  I don't know, but
there is one thing I do know for a fact, I'm closer to that
great day right now than I was yesterday.  I'm going
to ask myself a question and maybe you can ask
the same question of yourself.  What will Jesus
fine me doing when He returns?  I really believe I
have to be faithful when Christ returns, because for
one thing, I know I won't be perfect.  Since I don't
know when my Savior will return, I need to really
dedicate living every moment for Jesus Christ.
If I can do this one thing, then I don't have worry
about when Jesus is coming.  Just that one thing and
I'm alright.  I do take comfort in 2 Peter, where it says,
"He does not want anyone to perish, so He is giving more time
for everyone to repent."  So, even though I'm anxious for Christ's
return, I can wait because I have family and friends who need
to be prepared and you know, along with the Holy Spirit, I'm
just the person that can help in that preparation!  He's
coming are YOU ready!!!!!!!

Prayer:

Oh Lord I know that you can come at any time, please
help me in my walk with You, that I be always faithful,
so that when you return I will be ready.  THANK YOU
GOD FOR BEING GOD, IN JESUS NAME AMEN
