This manhole cover was outside a Catholic church in one of Toledo's very narrow streets in the old city.  Several blocks away were three synagogues.  There was  a time when Jews Christians and Moors lived harmoniously, then the Inquisition happened and Jews were allowed to stay if they converted to catholocism.  They were called conversos.
