The first Sunday of this month we had a teachers meeting for the Sunday school and it went really well. I just wanted to touch base with them and give them the opportunity to give me feedback.
The preschool teachers usually use felt to tell the Bible stories, but have found that some of the stories are not necessary or hard to convey to children that age. I will go through the book and choose the main stories to teach. I am also going to look into getting another book with activities/crafts to go along with the stories.
The Primary class and Junior class has recently been re-combined. Nancy and I are going to use the new Hands-on Curriculum that she has purchased through Group and Mary Gray is going to continue to use the book that teaches Sunday school lessons with science.
The Sunday School funds Vacation Bible School each year so I was looking for fund-raising activities. First it was suggested that we have a Car Wash so the kids can also be involved. So look for that in early June. Also was it was suggested that we have a sub sale. Since the Ladies Prayer Group isn't going to have one at least until the fall, we will have one for the month of May (selling in April). I am going to talk to the people at the Italian Kitchen this week or this weekend. I also am going to give any donations given from the 5th Sunday breakfast to the Sunday School. At the Leadership Team meeting we decided that we will have a special offering one Sunday for Vacation Bible School also.
I also inquired as to what fun activities they thought the kids would want to do and it was suggested that we go bowling. I will look into that and maybe shoot for April.
Please pray for the Sunday School and its teachers. It is an important job to teach children the Bible and about having a relationship with Jesus but not always the easiest one.
