The number of displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFW) has bottomed out as the demand for Filipino workers abroad continues.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) noted that in Taiwan, where the biggest number of displaced OFWs came from, has started to rehire OFWs.

Citing data from the Manila Economic Cultural Office (MECO), Labor Secretary Marianito Roque said that a total of 468 OFWs found jobs in Taiwan in March this year. Another 851 displaced OFWs were re-hired by their employers in Taiwan.


Companies affected by the global crisis are keeping the OFWs to avoid losing their quotas and in anticipation of improvement in the economy of Taiwan in the fourth quarter.

MECO data also indicated that displacements of foreign workers in Taiwan have been marginalized. During this same period, no OFW in this country was laid off due to the crisis.

Roque also noted that no additional OFW dislocation was recorded, saying that the number of OFWs displaced by the global crisis remained at 6,000 and not 12,000 as alleged by reports.

He said the situation in many countries with OFWs appear to have stabilized as the demand for Filipino manpower by foreign employers still continues.

The Middle East (ME) countries remained the top countries of destination for OFWs. For the first quarter of 2009, Roque said the Philippine Labor Offices in ME have monitored 106,800 new job opportunities for OFWs excluding the job orders registered with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

For a nine-month old, Boom-boom, my son doesn't fit the word
baby anymore. He is already so naughty that at times, he is getting into the
nerves of his mamita (my girlfriend's
mother), his aunts, and even his mommy. He is one active and keen little boy.

This afternoon, I got some backaches assisting him running
around almost everywhere he wants to. And as if not getting tired, he still
wanted to play ride to a motorcycle parked just outside the house. 

Sigh, I never really thought parenting could be both this
fulfilling and tiring.

but with Boom-boom as a son, toilet training your child would
probably a parent's nightmare. This little man I have is a perfect example of a
devilish angel; well one cute devilish angel for that matter. 

Thinking and writing about my little boy
never fail to bring smile to face and give that heavenly feeling to me. I guess
I just am a proud parent showing off his naughty little darling.

Although it may be implied that acne is something one cannot

Now that the writers strike has finally come to a
resolution, a refreshed and excited Eva Longoria is ready to get back to work
on the set of Desperate Housewives in California.

Obviously, the wife of NBA superstar Tony Parker missed her
job so much she had to take her Maltese, Jinxy for an animal
grooming for a special day out. 

Seeing Eva like this sure shows how content
and happy she is with her married life. And of course, seeing her paying
special attention in between takes with Jinxy would probably help in dissing
off pregnancy rumors; well at least not YET. And if this isn't enough, you can
go check InStyle's March 2008 cover to see the actress sans of any baby bumps. 

Anyway, I truly am happy for Eva Longoria's
happiness and excited too that she's back shooting for Desperate Housewives. My
excitement though does not include the show's upcoming season as I was really
disappointed with that racial slur against the Filipinos in one of their
episodes.
