In the creating of our new blog customization feature we have created a Memorial Day Theme. You can change your blog to the new theme by going to the settings screen and changing your blog settings.

Right now blogtext is going through some changes that will allow our users to create custom style sheets for their blog. We are going to keep this as simple as possible to allow all users to take advantage of creating their own style to their blogtext blog.

We will post an update to let users know when they can start customizing how their blog looks.

If you have questions or comments submit them below or use the contact us link from your blog manager.

Some Changes To Things

Blog Entry List - We have changed the blog entry list, in the blog manager, to show the last created blog entry at the top. This was done so that a user could create an entry that has a previous date than other entries, and still have that new entry show up at the top of blog entries list.

Creating Entry Date - Users can now specify the date they want their entry to show. This allows a user to create an entry for a previous date or a future date. This idea came from one of our users.

Photo Album View - The order of the images displayed in a album view of images does not list the images in the order they were uploaded.

This caused a browsing problem; when the first image of an album was clicked, the image view navigation page would not allow user to click next image. This known problem has been fixed.

The contact me option is located in the settings section of the blogtext manager. If the contact me option is turned on, a new link in the top menu of your blogtext pages will appear that reads, "Contact Me". If a visitor clicks the contact me link they will be directed to a web form that allows them to fill in their information and send a message as an email to the blog owners email address. Blog owner's email addresses are not reveled to visitors who choose to use the contact me form.

Recently there was a problem creating new blog entries. That bug has been fixed.

We have also fixed a bug that was not sending emails when comments were made to a users blog post that wanted an email notify of new comments.

Quick Edit

A new shortcut has been added at your blog entry entries list page here. It is labeled quick edit. In this form you enter an entry id and jump to edit page for that entry.

Entry id's are the numbers in your blog entry URL. For example, http://www.blogtext.org/help/article/4140.html, the id of that entry is 4140. If you wanted to jump to the edit page for this entry, you would type in 4140 from the form field labeled Quick Edit on this member page.

New BlogStats System

We have made big changes to our blog statistics service. In order to combat page load times and load time in general on the server, we have integrated a new blogtext stats system. This new service will use your blogtext username but with a different password.

The new stats service can be found under stats when you login to blogtext. If you have not setup your blogtext stats, you can do so by going to http://www.blogtext.org/member/statsMain.html. There it will detail out for you what steps you need to follow to get your blogtext stats up and running.

This new blogtext stats service handles statistics far better than we did in our previous version.

We have just released a new section in the blog member area that helps bloggers at blogtext get their blog out on the web.

One of the new tools is a ping forwarding service that sends your blog updates to many blog sites with a single click.

The other tool is a listing of many websites that take blog submissions manually and also take xml/rss feeds. You can find out more about these new features by going here.

For the next 24 to 36 hours dns changes are going to be changing for blogtext. This dns change will affect emailing of new entry posts notify, sending comment notify, sign up and activation emails.

Most networks around the world should be updated within 8 hours however to be sure all networks around the world are updated, it is good to wait a complete 36 hours.

On Thursday of last week our host disabled our domain without us knowing. This forced us to move data centers while blogtext was down and without allowing us to notify our users. We were unable to get to any of our data for many hours. Once we could get to our data we had to change dns servers. Dns servers basically point blogtext. to a certain ip address. Since we had to change our host/data center, we had to change our ip address as well. DNS  can take up to 72 hours to show up around the entire word wide web.

If you are reading this message, blogtext is at its new data center and users data has been restored.

Before the downtime we were going to release some new features. These have been put on hold to make sure the move is complete.

We will update our blog when more needs to be said.
