Yesterday was another unfortunate day for my country. A small group of heterodox individuals again seized control of a posh luxury hotel in Makati, Metro Manila in an attempt to gather support for their own personal cause of overturning the current government administration. Senator Trillanes once again was the caput of this movement against President Arroyo as he once did on the year 2003. A similar result turned out as Senator Trillanes and his cohorts were arrested after less than twenty four (24) hours of rebellion. Though this time I think that this was worse than the first revolt because of the following:

1. Mr. Trillanes is now an elected Senator. If he truly believes in his cause, he should have done a more conscientious, honorable and legal steps in reaching out to Filipinos whatever he wants to say.

2. Walking out of a court room during a hearing is unbecoming of a Senator.

3. The military police who escorted Senator Trillanes the whole time he was in the courtroom until he walked out and stormed into the Manila Peninsula were made to look like co-conspirator because of their actions (or should I say their lack of actions) during this inauspicious event.

4. During the first insurrection in Oakwood Hotel, it was obvious that only military men were involved. This time even the former vice president of the republic, the members of the Catholic church and some other attention-hungry individuals were there to show their support to Senator Trillanes' another failed attempt to overthrow President Arroyo.

5. The country's economy is doing better this time than during the first uprising and this kind of action by malcontents is not only hurting the efforts of the current government administration but also adding obstacles along the way for both private and public enterprises to hurdle for them to directly help to the economic push.

6. IMHO, members of the Catholic Church or any other sect should not be associating themselves with any political, military and social controversies. This running priest (what the hell is a running priest anyway?!!!) and the two bishops who were supporting the call to ouster the President should be removed from the Catholic Church list of priests and bishops. Crap! Misa De Gallo is almost here and this so called servant of God were busy engaging in politics/revolt instead of preparing for the upcoming holiday events. They should concentrate more on their job than affiancing themselves with politics.

7. Filipinos are once again the topic of conversations, centerpiece of criticism and subject of jokes around the world because of this very untoward incident.

Through all of these, the Filipinos were the true losers just because of selfish acts of a few individuals. Why do we keep kicking and punching ourselves down? We are at the bottom now, there's no other way but to go up. Let's just help each other. Stop whining and start working for our families. Yes, our families. If you are disgusted by the ways of our government then just concentrate your efforts towards the improvement of your family's life. Remove all the bad buffs in your head. Magtrabaho ka. Magsikap ka. Ang kahirapan ay malalampasan mag-sipag ka lamang.

My Top 10 > Juan vs Juana

Sampung Dahilan Bakit Nag-aaway si Juan at Juana
  7. Money Matters. 'Money is the root of all evil' wika nga nila.
  8. Hygiene.
  10. Listening but not hearing. Heto ang dapat tandaan ng mga magsing-irog. There's a big difference between Listening and Hearing. Maaring nandiyan ka palagi para mag-listen sa iyong partner pero ang tanong...do you really hear his/her heart's message? You listen with your ear but you hear with your heart.

Zaido

Seventh tour of duty daw,

Ngunit mananatiling dito'y nakabaon,

Time Space warp ngayon din! Poof!

Dear Kapuso,

LateBloomer

Parang may identity crisis ako...

Yaiks!

Pasaka Festival

"Pasaka," the native word for Assumption, is a street spectacle in honor of Our Lady of Assumption.
Venue: Tanuan, Leyte
Date: 14 August

The festival is called "Pasaka" which is a waray word meaning invitation to progress, health, and luck for the inhabitants for the coming year.

The festival is so popular and so merry that it encourages expatriates to visit during this time of year. The festival also invites people from elsewhere who wish to join and enjoy the festivity and are all welcomed by the locals in their own homes regardless of whether they know them or not.

...

The Pasaka Festival which runs August 1 to 15, is seen as another opportunity to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Tanauan, Leyte, where Tinikling, the national dance of the Philippines, is said to have originated.

It is during the nightly activities when the various sectors of the municipality are able to show their unity in paying homage and thanksgiving to the town's Patroness, Our Lady of the Assumption.

Showcasing the best talents and the culture and tradition of the municipality, will also ensure that the younger generations are given the chance to know the culture and tradition of their forefathers. It is only by knowing, that the younger generation will learn to love and to be proud of their roots and their cultural heritage.

Nightly cultural presentations from August 1 to 14 features the talents in the various schools, the local government unit and the non-government organizations in Tanauan.

Past Time ni Juan Dela Cruz

  •   Tsismisan / Kwentuhan.
Bakit ulit?
'Nuff said.
  •   Basketball / Billiards.
Texting naman is not that big of a hit na pero 5 yrs back talaga namang ito ang nangunguna sa listahan.
  •   Magpaganda / Hygiene. Kaya naman nabansagan tayong 'sweetest smelling people in the world!'

The Ten Things I Like About Online Chatting

1. Eats my time. Wow! This is like the best thing to ever come up over the internet for bored and shy people like me (shy daw oh) who has lots of time to waste.

2. Meeting friends / chatmates around the world. This is the fastest way to meet people from around the world. Instant connections!

3. I can exercise my  tongue thru my fingertips. Since I am not really a garrulous, blabbermouthed, talkative guy in person I get to experience being madaldal in online chatting without getting out of my comfort zone.

4. I get to pile up my collection of friends in Friendster!

5. Get's me thru homesickness and clear's my mind of anxiety.

6. Learning basics of different languages. Learning how to be polite and respectful to different chatters who came from different cultures, upbringing and places. Learning more things that I can't enumerate here.

7. Source of free mp3s, movie links, e-books, etc. Even YouTube links and other informative web site URLs pwede matanong sa mga web addicts roaming around the chatrooms.

8. Cool scripts really excite a programmer like me.

9. I can project myself differently as often as I'd like to. I can even be the person I wanted to be!

10. Funny / corny jokes, surprising / irritating side comments, heated debates, smileys and a lot more. A whole lot of fun!

Yesterday was another day of celebration for millions of Filipinos worldwide. Why? Manny Pacquiao again won in the world stage convincingly albeit not living up to the expectation that the win will come via KO.

I was really very happy yesterday when I learned about his victory. The sad thing was that I was not able to watch the fight in television. Damn, there's no coverage provided by RCTI as most Filipinos here in Indonesia were expecting as the network covered Manny's bouts since he beat Barrera in theri first duel. I just relied on text messages sent to me after every rounds.

I could not really say anything more about the boxing fight since I was not able to see it. I just hope that somebody back home recorded it so I can watch it when I go on vacation.

Mabuhay ka Manny! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! You made the Filipinos prooud again!!!

Kapuso > Filipino Nurses

This is a copy of the electonic-mail I just sent for a student in the Philippines seeking help regarding a small speech about Filipino Nurses.

Miss Cherry,

Good morning.

Please find what I prepared for you. I hope this one helps you. Pardon me if you find any grammatical and spelling errors.
Good luck in your studies! Study hard. Aim High.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Whenever I see nurses, I can't help but admire them. Imagine a profession which let them treat and care those who are in need of medical attention. Hands on services provided without complains even to strangers. They who have always been there to aid for their patients when needed. Always there not only to supply the medicines but more importantly the much needed morale boost just by their mere presence letting the patient know he's in good and able hands. Some nurses even have great humor to put a smile on the patient's face easing out the depression and stress brought about by an illness.

Just recently our Filipino nurses were, both directly and indirectly, affected by the scandal brought about by the "exam leakage" in the Nursing Licensure Examination. This unfortunate event seemed to put a black stain in the clean, pure white nurse uniform. Questions of whether the same leakage happened before and will it continue in the future were asked. Sadly, the scam reached world wide popularity that it became a subject of ridicule and mocks. Well, my faith in this noble profession was not even shaken. I still believe that our nurses are second to none when it comes to their line of work. Very dedicated that they give more than one hundred percent of their capabilities irregardless of the below industry standard salary they earn. They continue to strive and tend to their patients with utmost concern even in the midst of controversy. Yes! Even when their clean, pure-white uniforms were stained. Many of us talk about volunteer Doctors, teachers and social workers but no one seems to notice how our nurses contribute to our fellow countrymen. There are more volunteer nurses than teachers, doctors and social workers combined. These less heralded nurses are everywhere. Nurses are in town and barangay health centers, in cities roaming around those shanties, in remote villages, in those disaster-stricken places, even with our military in Mindanao. They are everywhere! They are there to provide basic health services to everybody and even donate their time and skills for free to our less unfortunate countrymen. Even the world is coming to get the aid of our nurses.

Our Filipino Nurses are not just health workers. Our Filipino Nurses are heroes and no one will ever dispute that! They have the skills, the knowledge, the wit and humor, the compassion and the will to serve those who are in need. Their services can be availed first hand by Filipinos and we are very lucky to have the best in the world!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Regards,

Romeo
